Catalaphyllia jardenei - Purple tip Elegance Coral
Hardy species for the reef tank. Can tolerate different flows of water and lighting conditions. Feed meaty fare at least 3-4 times a week as well as your typical. This coral is fairly aggressive, so make sure you leave plenty of room as it will expand. The most common problem I see with these over a period of time is tissue recession. The main reason is usually poor water quailty, such as high phosphates, and lack of elements that most corals need. I know customers that have had these for over 4 years

Goniopora stocksii - Golf Ball Coral
The Golf Ball coral is readily available in the trade, although it is not not one of the easier corals to maintain.Your water quality must be kept to a high standard and you must be careful when handling these. All the tissue is conected, and once damaged, either by placing them on a reef structure that is unstable and it falls, or by handling Indiscriminately, they will go down hill fast, usually with an infedtion.(brown jelly) They require moderate waterflow, and best placed on the bottom of the tank. Adding supplements is a must, also a regular (3 times a week) feeding of blended seafood and shrimp into a paste, with added vitiamins tends to help this coral along. The longest I have seen this coral kept in a reef tank was 20 months

Sarcophyton species - Mushroom Soft Coral
These corals like a strong flow over their polyps,(not too direct), and enjoy a wide range of lighting, some of the healthiest ones I have see have been under fluros.
The main problem that I have encountered has been elevated temperatures (+29C), they tend to shrink and die, very rarely comming back. there are other parasitic and bacterial problems, which tend to be easier to deal with, and usually with a positive outcome.
The addition of Iodine on a regular basis is benefical with a picture perfect coral being the end result.
